Domiciliary and home care

Most people who need personal help and care want to remain in their own home along with their memories and personal possessions. This however is often only possible with the skill and caring support of domiciliary or home care workers. The work may involve helping someone get up in the morning and to get to bed at night, and providing help with a whole range of other tasks in between. These include help with washing, dressing, and the preparation of meals as well as providing domestic help with tasks such as cleaning and shopping.

The home carer may be the only person their client may see fro the beginning to the end of the week. The carer therefore provides a vital social link for someone who is housebound and who perhaps does not want to go to a club or day centre.
